Transmission System Reliability Planning

چکیده
In the past, electrical transmission systems were continuously adding more facilities to their subsystems in order to satisfy the growing customer energy requirements. A utility industry traditionally has relied on a set of deterministic criteria to guide transmission planning. The traditional planning guidelines were based on planner's experience and intuition without a formal and consistent framework for their development. This paper identifies some of the limitations of traditional utility transmission system planning criteria and the possible implications for industrial and commercial customers. This paper presents review and development of transmission system reliability planning criteria based on various research performed by many researchers and scientists and on various historical equipment performance data.

Accelerating the Composite Power System Planning by Benders Decomposition
This paper presents an application of Benders decomposition to deal with the complexities in the simultaneous Generation Expansion Planning (GEP) and Transmission Expansion Planning (TEP). Unlike the power system operation fields of study, the power system planning methods are not expected to be fast. However, it is always preferable to speed up computations to provide more analysis options for...
متن کاملMicrogrid - based Co - optimization of Generation and Transmission Planning in Power Systems
This paper presents an algorithm for the microgrid planning as an alternative to the co-optimization of generation and transmission expansion planning in electric power systems. The integration of microgrids in distribution systems will offer a decentralized control of local resources for satisfying the network reliability and the power quality required by local loads. The objective in this pap...

This paper presents a multi-year scenario-based methodology for transmission expansion planning (TEP) in order to enhance the available transfer capability (ATC). The ATC is an important factor for all players of electricity market who participate in power transaction activities and can support the competition and nondiscriminatory access to transmission lines among all market participants. The...
متن کاملA Multi-objective Transmission Expansion Planning Strategy: A Bilevel Programming Method
This paper describes a methodology for transmission expansion planning (TEP) within a deregulated electricity market. Two objective functions including investment cost (IC) and congestion cost (CC) are considered. The proposed model forms a bi-level optimization problem in which upper level problem represents an independent system operator (ISO) making its decisions on investment while in the l...

Restructuring of electric industry has seriously affected the operation and planning process of electric power systems. Due to the unbundling process and new market requirements, a set of new challenges and goals have been introduced in the field of transmission planning. Moreover, the uncertainty level of input data to planning process has been increased significantly. In this paper first, the...

An important factor to be considered in electric power system expansion planning is the security of service that the system is able to provide. In restructured power systems, variables such as agents’ profit or Locational Marginal Price (LMP) variances are considered in transmission expansion planning. To have a secure network this plan would be refined for simulated contingencies. This p...
